Staffing at early voting locationsWe expect about 25-30% of voters will vote early, before the official election on Saturday 18 November. There'll be two pre-poll locations:
- City - Level 11, 530 Collins Street, Melbourne (Vic Electoral Commission Office).
- Fairfield - 116 Station Street, Fairfield.
In the questionnaire below, please indicate which days you could help out and whether in the morning (8:30am - 1pm) or afternoon (1pm - 6pm). Even if you can only help for an hour or two, please mark those times as available and the pre-poll team will be in touch to confirm what times best suit you.
Handing out pamphlets at train stationsFrom 19 October, we'll be handing out pamphlets at train stations from 7.30 to 9.30am, Thurs and Friday mornings:
- Northcote Train Station - Thursday 19 October & Friday 20 October.
- Fairfield Train Station - Thursday 26 October & Friday 27 October.
- Thornbury Train Station - Thursday 2 November & Friday 3 November.
- Alphington Train Station - Thursday 9 November & Friday 10 November.
- Westgarth Train Station - Thursday 16 November & Friday 17 November.
Dermott and Patrick will be training volunteers on Saturday 14 October from 11am (for about an hour). They'll be in touch to confirm which stations you'd like to canvas on what dates.
Door knockingWe'll be door knocking from 11am - 1pm and 2pm - 4pm every Saturday from the 21 October. Door knockers will be in groups of two, and will be provided with pamphlets to talk about if someone is home. Again, Dermott and Patrick will provide training on how to engage with residents and answer questions. Same day as the train station training, Saturday 14 October at 11am - 12pm.
Election day!Election day is Saturday 18 November -- when the excitement happens! We'd like to see at least two people representing REASON at each of the 14 booths across Northcote on the big day. There'll be a morning shift (from 8am) and an afternoon shift (from 1pm). But if you could help out all day, that'd be great! The volunteer team will be in touch to allocate your booth.
What are your skills? Can you build anything out of scrap wood? Are you a talented musician? What about assisting with events? If you have skills you think might be of assistance, whether it be making A-Frame signs, wearing your Reason t-shirt on stage (that’s for those talented musicians), being a driver for last minute errands, or helping out in so many small ways organising events, we'd love to hear from you.
